Have you heard of a “Me Wall?” I first heard the term in the military…it refers to the wall that some people have that displays awards and diplomas and photgraphs shaking hands with foreign dignitaries. Some Me Walls are more obnoxious than others…while some feel it’s sufficient to just display their diplomas and maybe a family photo or two on their Me Wall, others choose to display every award from their entire life…awards such as “8th Place – Cobol Programming Competition” (that’s right DR, I’m talking about you )
My goal here is to have one of the most obnoxious thorough Me Walls ever.
I’ve been seen on Five Star Friday. This is a great site that you should submit the fun, insightful, or just plain incredible blog posts you read around the blogosphere.

I interviewed a really old, really interesting WWII veteran some years ago when I lived in Connecticut. He had a piece of wood where he’d mounted his medals, etc. and he called it his “braggin’ board”. My dad (30 years in the Navy) calls his wall full of stuff his “company wall”, because he’s always said it’s for other people to look at, not for him.
To sum up, welcome to the world of veterans!

Despite 20 years in the Air Force, I never really got into the “me wall” stuff.
But I do understand – to some degree – why people do it. In the military, everyone is always “new” to some degree. Putting up your ‘me wall’ stuff is a way to let your new co-workers know where you’ve been, what units you’ve been assigned to, etc. Sort of a short-hand “about” page, in a way.
