Sound or Lyrics>
Current mood: contemplative

Some people like certain songs because of the music and the sound.  Some like the words.  I fall into the latter category, probably because I love words and interestingly constructed sentences.  I am sure that “interestingly” is not the best word choice but I had somewhat of a rough evening so bear with me.

Frequently I will be in a car with someone and they will be boppin’ to the music, and I’ll say “Oh my goodness, you like this song?  Do you even know what he just said?”   Often, the person will have no idea what the guy just said, because they aren’t lyrics people.  I am a lyrics person.  So here are some of the bizarro lyrics of the songs I liked over the past year…

Placebo, Infra-Red

(set to creep-tacular music…)

I‘m coming up on infra-red,
there is no running that can hide you
cause I can see in the dark

Silversun Pickups, Lazy Eye

(the guy is SCREAMING these…makes me think of a crazy boyfriend or something)

that’s why i said i relate
i said we relate
it’s so fun to relate

The Shins, Caring is Creepy

It’s a luscious mix of words and tricks
That let us bet when you know we should fold
On rocks i dreamt of where we’d stepped

And the whole mess of roads we’re now on.

Radiohead, Where You End and I Begin (The Sky is Falling In)

There’s a gap in between
There’s a gap where we meet
Where I end and you begin
And I’m sorry for us
The dinosaurs roam the earth
The sky turns green
Where I end and you begin

Thanks for sharing in today’s thought.
